About Us

The idea for the Lion & Sun Corporation started when a group of Iranian students at Yale University, members of the Yale Alliance for Solidarity with Iran (YASI), hosted the conference “Institution-Building within the Iranian Diaspora” in April 2026. The conference brought together scholars, professionals, engineers, activists, journalists, and entrepreneurs from across the Iranian diaspora. Well-known diaspora figures such as Pantea Modiri, Elaaheh Jamali, Bozorgmehr Sharafedin, Farnoush Hamidian, and Marjan Keypour were among the conference speakers and professional participants. With advisors from the National Union for Democracy in Iran (NUFDI) and authors of the Iran Prosperity Project (IPP) among our participants and speakers, the conference operated from a single premise: the diaspora’s problem is not a shortage of capacity, but a failure of organization.

Over two days, three structured panels, three structured surveys, and two roundtables, we decided that the two most important issues within our diaspora could be addressed with two institutions under one umbrella. That umbrella organization is the Lion & Sun Corporation. The two institutions are the Network, to connect and strengthen our diaspora members worldwide, and the Fund, to support our network without dependence on any government funding.
